Due to Coronavirus (COVID-19)
2020 SOMERSET COUNTY GUY FAWKES CARNIVALS WERE CANCELLED
But all being well we hope to be out traveling the streets of Bridgwater, Highbridge and Burnham on Sea, Weston Super Mare, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Wells and Glastonbury attending the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnivals 2021, also Midsomer Norton.
Please see the New Carnival Dates for 2021
Shambles CC is based in Shepton Mallet, Somerset. We take part in the Somerset November Illuminated Guy Fawkes Carnivals, which parade around the streets of Bridgwater, Burnham, Weston Super Mare, North Petherton, Shepton Mallet, Wells, and finally Glastonbury. We also enter the Midsomer Norton Carnival.
Many people ask, “why do we call our carnival floats, carts.” That is because these Somerset attractions were originally built on hay carts and pulled by horses.
As well as the obvious, needing people to dance on the cart, building and fund raising is a very important part of the club, so any one with artistic, model making, painting, electrical, metal and wood working skills are more than welcome. Please do not let this put you off as tea making and clearing up behind some of those messy workers is also a very important job, and most of all the fund raising, so if you would enjoy putting any of these skills into action, come and join us, we are a friendly bunch and work as a team to build a fantastic cart.
For those who do not know much about us, since 1987 Shambles CC have always entered carnival with a tableau cart, but 2015 bought us new success as a feature club, so all singing and dancing now. This has enticed more membership of all ages, and the club is still growing.
So come and see what we are about, new members are always welcome.
