This was a wonderful chance to see the magnificent garden of Longbridge House, possibly the oldest house in Shepton mallet, and The Taunton Garrison bringing the 17th century to life with music, drama and historical re-enactments.   BEST IN THE WEST JUMBLE SALE

Shambles carnival club has postponed this years mammoth jumble sale. The sale has become too big for our 21 members to collect the jumble and run the event.

We aim to bring the sale back in 2011 if we can get some more members. We particularly want people with painting, carpentry, electrical, model making or other DIY skills with a minimum age of 16.

The Jumble Sale was booked on April 10th at the Bath and West Showground, whose society provides us with the litter-picking work that provides us with our main source of income, the other is the Glastonbury Festival.

MORE TROPHIES THAN MANCHESTER UNITED

Shepton Mallets Shambles Carnival Club has plenty of cups with which to celebrate its success on last years (2008) circuit, 20 in fact.

Members proudly showed off the results of their efforts at a get together at the Shepton Con Club on Sunday night. Club chairman Alan Billing and cart designer Scott Witcombe said they were '' over the moon'' with the performances and hard work all the members put in to last years Mary Poppins float. The club was delighted to be awarded 20 cups, one of the best results for many years and were particularly pleased to be awarded the Best Decorated Generator cup at the Gangs and Features dinner in January.

The cup was in memory of the late Dennis Clothier who over a number of years had been a very great friend of the club in so many ways. The cup was presented by his partner Sheila Petherbridge, who too is highly regarded by the club.
